By booking or attending any Thinking Actors class, workshop or service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

 

1) Definitions

​

  • We / us / our: Thinking Actors (and, where relevant, our affiliates and agents).

  • You / your: the person booking and/or attending.

  • Block: a paid block of weekly classes (as stated on the booking page / invoice).

  • Term: an academic term (as stated on the booking page / invoice).

  • Specialist workshop: any one-off workshop (including guest-led sessions).

  • Booking confirmation: the point you receive written confirmation (email/receipt/invoice paid).

 

2) General conduct and safety

​

  • You attend classes/workshops at your own risk and are responsible for your own wellbeing.

  • We reserve the right to remove anyone whose behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, abusive, or detrimental to the group. In serious cases, removal may be without refund.

  • You are responsible for ensuring your contact details are accurate and up to date.

 

3) Attendance, missed sessions and absence notice

Weekly acting classes

​

  • No roll-over, credit or refund is provided for missed weekly classes (including illness, work, travel, or personal circumstances).

  • You remain liable for fees for missed sessions, including where you are in a minimum-commitment period.

       Absence notification

Specialist workshops

​

  • If you cannot attend a booked workshop, notify us as soon as possible via email (info@thinkingactors.co.uk).

  • On-the-day workshop absence must be communicated via email or text.

  • Unless we agree otherwise in writing, workshops are non-transferable and non-refundable once booked.

 

4) Acting classes — deposits, minimum commitment and notice

 

Deposits

​

Where a deposit is offered/requested to secure a place (e.g., your first month), that deposit is non-refundable if you withdraw.

​

Minimum commitment and notice (ongoing/term-based training)

​

For courses running across an academic year and/or with no fixed end date:

​

  • We require a minimum commitment of four blocks or one academic term (whichever is longer).

  • If you wish to stop after your minimum commitment, you must provide one month’s notice in writing by email.

  • If you cancel your direct debit/subscription or stop attending before your minimum commitment is completed, you remain liable for any outstanding balance due under the minimum commitment.

Filming days / guests

​

Any special filming days, guest filmmakers or industry guests are at our discretion and depend on numbers and availability.

 

5) Meetings, appointments and consultancy

Appointments (general)

 

If you cannot attend a scheduled appointment, notify us by email as soon as possible.

​

  • Cancelling on the day or failing to attend a scheduled appointment will incur a £30 administration fee to cover preparation and admin time.

 

Consultancy

​

Our consultancy rate is £50 per hour, unless agreed otherwise in writing as part of a package.

​

  • If you fail to attend a booked consultancy session, or cancel with late notice, you may be charged the full fee for the booked time.

 

6) Online classes and events

​

  • If you do not attend a booked online class/event due to personal circumstances (including illness, work, tech issues on your side), no refund is available.

  • You are responsible for having an adequate internet connection and device.

 

7) Our cancellation and rescheduling policy (when we cancel)

​

  • All classes/workshops are subject to a minimum group number (set by us).

  • Schedules and prices may change. We will aim to give reasonable notice where possible.

 

If we cancel

​

If we cancel a class/workshop you have paid for:

​

  • We will either offer a rescheduled date or provide a full refund.

  • Where a refund is due, it will be processed within 5–10 working days.

  • We are not liable for additional costs you may incur due to cancellation (e.g., travel, accommodation, childcare).

 

If a leader cancels

​

If a class/workshop leader has to cancel:

​

  • We will reschedule the event.

  • If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, we will offer either a credit note or a refund (depending on the event type and payment method).

 

Disruption to in-person weekly classes

​

If weekly in-person acting classes are disrupted (e.g., venue issues, external events):

​

  • We may continue tuition online.

  • Any discounted price for online delivery will be set by Thinking Actors and communicated to you.

  • Your agreed minimum commitment (four blocks or one term) remains in place.

 

8) Payments, subscriptions and failed payments

​

  • Payments are generally taken at the time of booking (via the website).

  • Where we invoice (typically for business clients or agreed exceptions), payment terms are 14 days unless stated otherwise in writing.

  • We accept card and direct debit. No cash. We do not accept cheques.

Direct debit subscriptions (weekly classes)

​

  • Subscriptions are processed automatically on the first day of each calendar month.

  • If you cancel your direct debit/subscription without completing your agreed minimum commitment, you remain liable for the outstanding balance.

 

Failed payment fee

​

If a subscription payment fails (e.g., via GoCardless), we may charge an administration fee of £10 to cover resubmission and processing costs.

 

Deposits / balance payments for workshops

​

If a deposit option is offered for a workshop/course:

​

  • The remaining balance must be paid by the due date stated, whether or not you attend.

 

9) Promotional offers

​

We may withdraw or amend promotional offers at any time and without notice.

 

10) Casting Director / Casting Associate workshops (CDG)

​

Some workshops follow Casting Directors’ Guild (CDG) guidelines.

​

  • These workshops are educational and are not auditions or job interviews.

  • The presence of a casting professional is not a promise or guarantee of employment.

​

By booking, you accept the following disclaimer:

​

“I understand that the presence of a Casting Director is absolutely not a guarantee or promise of employment. I further understand that the intent of this class is solely educational and not a form of job interview or audition.”

 

11) Spotlight

 

Thinking Actors is a Spotlight-accredited training provider. If you attend our Acting for Camera training for two consecutive years, you may be eligible to apply for Spotlight membership and we will support your application.
Final acceptance decisions always rest with Spotlight.

12) Photography, videography and social media

 

We may photograph or film parts of classes/workshops/events for training, promotional or documentation purposes (including use online and on social media).

​

  • If you do not want to be photographed/filmed, you must notify us in writing by email before the session (or on arrival where possible). We will take reasonable steps to accommodate this (e.g., seating position, avoiding you in shots, or not using identifiable footage).

  • You agree that you will not be compensated for approved promotional use of imagery/footage.

  • Thinking Actors / TA Creative retains the rights to footage captured by us, subject to your legal rights under data protection law.

13) Privacy

​

We take privacy seriously. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.

14) Legal bits

​

  • Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under UK consumer law.

  • If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining sections remain in force.

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales.
