The programme is for professionally minded beginners, emerging actors and working performers who want screen craft that holds up under casting pressure. It is not designed as a casual drop-in class: the focus is sustained development, a repeatable process and filmed feedback.

The Actor’s Process

Build a repeatable foundation for character preparation, moment-to-moment truth and screen realism across different genres and formats.

Acting for Camera Training in Manchester

Apply your process to film and television scripts. Develop truthful, detailed performance that fits the frame, tone and world of the production.

Self-Tape and Audition Training

Develop a professional self-tape workflow covering performance choices, casting expectations, reader dynamics and technical best practice.

Location Filming Days

Apply your process under production-style conditions with direction, pace and technical demands.

Regular Filming and Showreel Opportunities

Regular class footage is supplied for personal review and evaluation. After four completed blocks, members are invited to a professionally filmed showreel scene under the current offer and terms.

Spotlight Eligibility

After completing two consecutive years of training with Thinking Actors, students and actors are eligible to apply for Spotlight membership.

What level is the class for?

Professionally minded beginners build strong foundations, while emerging and working actors refine screen detail, consistency and audition readiness.

Do you work on self-tapes?

Yes. Self-tape craft is a core part of the programme, including performance choices, reader dynamics and technical best practice.

Will I receive footage?

Yes. Regular class footage supports review and evaluation. The current offer also includes an invitation to a professionally filmed showreel scene after four completed blocks, subject to the published terms.

Can theatre-trained actors use the class to transition to screen?

Yes. The programme translates existing performance skill into screen scale, precision and pace without losing truthfulness.

Payments and Terms

Monthly membership payments are processed by direct debit on the first of each month. One month’s notice is required to cancel after the minimum commitment. No credit or rollover is available for missed classes. See the full terms and conditions.

A non-refundable deposit of £95 is required to accept and secure a place. This also covers the first month of classes.

Your Instructor

Peter Carroll

Peter Carroll is a highly experienced acting coach and practitioner, specialising in Stanislavski’s Method and The Meisner Technique, the latter of which he trained in at The Acting Studio New York. His clients have gone on to appear in major international productions, including FX/BBC Devs, BBC Silent Witness, Netflix Dracula, ITV Sanditon, BBC Our Girl, NBC This Is Us, Channel 4/HBO It’s A Sin, BBC EastEnders, Sky Atlantic Domina, 20th Century Studios Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and BBC Alma’s Not Normal. He is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy, a member of British Actors’ Equity, Spotlight, and The Royal Television Society. As an actor, Peter’s most recent work includes ITV’s Coronation Street.
