About the course
12 x Tuesday evenings. 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm.
This new course explores 'Method Acting' for stage and screen. Participants will develop their skillset and 'actor's toolkit' through its practical application. This is a Technical Level I course and provides a solid foundation for further study on our Advanced Acting or Meisner Level II courses.
'Method Acting' is a derivative of Konstantin Stanislavski's original work in Russia and America. It's a distinct approach towards the creation of ‘stage truth’. It provides an actor with key strategies to access a commanding, resonant and ‘natural’ performance for stage or screen.
Stanislavski's System strongly influenced the work of three key theatre practitioners and teachers - with each emphasising different aspects of Stanislavski's approach: Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner and Lee Strasberg. Often embraced - and at times distanced - this original acting ‘system’ has always elicited a response. It’s essential knowledge for any actor. Without it, you’ll be left eating soup with a fork - and it will show.
During this Acting Foundation course, you will be exploring aspects of 'Method Acting' and learn about the true power of text in performance. A range of theatre, film and television scripts and 'sides' will be explored. Real coaching. Real advice.
This course is suitable for the serious beginner. It’s also valuable for the more experienced actor looking to gain Continued Professional Development that will sharpen their craft. Payment is by three monthly instalments.
Your full attendance is expected across the 12 sessions. Please read carefully our terms and conditions - which you’ll be required to electronically agree to during the booking process.
